War - Joe

Class 5 have been looking at war, its causes and its effects.

WAR

War: roaming around us searching for ways to get in, leaving us sick and wounded, and making the previously calm battle for life. War, in my opinion, just pure evil.

Nobody likes war. “Tomorrow is a gift that’s why it’s called the present” somebody once said. People at war can’t say that, they dread the next day. Who would not want to be able to say that quote. I want to stop war.

Did you know, since 1495 there has been no 25 year period without a war happening. If you walked up to someone who has been involved in war and asked “Do you like war?” The answer, loud and clear, would be “No!” Although if you said “Do you think people have rights to go to war?” or “Are wars necessary?” The answer might be very different.

In my opinion, those people who go to war should get  even more credit. It takes someone of great courage, great fortitude and great temerity to go to war. Imagine how you would feel: the dark atmosphere, the worry of being shot, and above all: leaving your family behind.

So what is war all about? It is usually childish and infantile things like: difference in resources (land, oil, money etc.), difference of religion, struggle for power and some just like causing large arguments.

Some people like war; most people hate it. So is it necessary or just pure evil?
